Pompeii is a city in Rome that had been lost for almost 1700 years until it’s discovery in 1748. The city was destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79. The city was buried under 13-20 feet of ash and pumice, which preserved a lot of the bodies and homes of it’s inhabitants. 

I’ve seen everything in these pictures except the dog one. I know I have pictures from Pompeii somewhere, including ones of the humans. Those are the most amazing, and terrifying, sights in Pompeii.
